I am getting pesky error from my Yahoo Messenger.

The error is stating,

You have been disconnected from chat because you have signed in to Yahoo Messenger from another computer.

If I hit on the X button to close the messenger, it will sometimes work but most of the time, my computer will lock leaving me no choice but to shut it down.

This happens 10 times every day or when I am using my computer.

I don’t chat with anyone so I really don’t know what the root of my problem is.

I need advises.

Thank you.

It seems that your computer requires a lot of fixing to do. Yahoo! Messenger doesn’t behave like this if your system is running well. What usually happens is that, when you are signed-in using the Yahoo! Messenger and then you opened your Yahoo! mail using the web browser you will be automatically signed-out of Yahoo! Messenger if you are currently signed-in the Messenger within Yahoo! mail and vice versa. Sign out from the Messenger within the Yahoo! mail to be able to log in to Yahoo! Messenger again. That’s normally what happens. But in your case, your system hangs.

There are conflicts within Windows that’s why it takes a long time for the application to terminate. This is not normal. Try doing some simple solutions to remedy this. Uninstall Yahoo! Messenger first. You can install it back later after all tasks are finished. Run a disk check on your computer to check your hard drive for errors.

  1. Right click on drive C and then select Properties.
  2. Click Tools tab.
  3. Click Check Now.
  4. Check Automatically fix file system errors and then click Start.

If you have your own disk utility application, run it instead. Fix all found errors if there is any. Run a Disk Cleanup on your hard drive to free your system from temporary files and other garbage that are occupying your system.

  1. Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools.
  2. Click Disk Cleanup.
  3. Select the drive and then click OK. Disk Cleanup will then scan your drive.
  4. Check the items on the list that has something to delete and then click OK. Repeat this until all drives are cleaned if you have multiple drives.

After cleaning your drives, update your antivirus and then run a full system scan on your computer so you can be sure that your computer is free from different kinds of malwares or viruses. After the virus scan, defragment your hard drive to improve the data access speed of your computer.

  1. Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools.
  2. Click Disk Defragmenter.
  3. Select the drive to defrag and then hit Defragment. If you wish to analyze the drive first, you may do so by clicking Analyze.

You can now install back Yahoo! Messenger. If it still behaves that way every time you close it, maybe its time you format your hard drive and install Windows again.

1. Log out your Yahoo ID from any device such as a phone that maybe might still be logged in.

2. Try and unsubscribe from any sites that u might have used your Yahoo ID.

3. Clear your web history and login to your Yahoo account.

I believe this helps.
