While surfing the internet for new games, I saw Elsword. I checked the system requirements and it seems pretty much compatible with my computer so I signed up and downloaded the game. Everything was fine with the installation but when I started the game, this error code “500” greeted me. This is my first time to play it so I’m wondering what caused the error.

Before playing the game “Elsword”, check that your computer meets the requirements. Elsword supports Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10. It requires 800 MHz or faster processor, 256 MB RAM, and 1.5 GB free space. With GameGuard error “500”, this error code indicates a conflict with other programs.

This means there is another program running on your computer that is in conflict with GameGuard. If you don’t know which program is in conflict with your game, restart your computer then try again. If this doesn’t work, try to disable your antivirus or internet security temporarily. According to nProtect.com, the following programs cannot be launched simultaneously with GameGuard:

  • PDBox, Clubbox by Nowcom
  • Any games that use Ahn Lab’s Hackshield

The error is triggered because the security function of GameGuard is not working or an exception error keeps happening due to the conflict with other programs currently running. If you have one of these two programs running in the background, terminate them in the Task Manager before playing Elsword.

Press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC to bring up the Task Manager then look for the conflicting program and select it. Click “End Process” then select “End process” to confirm.
