I hope to clone my 500GB SATA 2 hard drive to a 1TB SATA 3 hard drive. I tried Arconis True Image 2014 but it won’t let me. Is there any cloning software available I can download for free? I want to be able to copy the whole drive and extend the volume. Thanks.

Your operating system is capable of cloning your hard drive. Consult the OS literature bundled with your OS for instructions pertaining to cloning or consult the OS website for assistance. Your OS software can do a much better job (i.e., less errors and a smaller file) of imaging than utilities, but you have many options should you choose to use one. Utilize a search engine to find a utility. Also, you can utilize a live operating system for the purpose of drive cloning. This allows for less chance of error and faster performance. You also have more control of the process and specifications. There are many such systems available. You can download and burn a bootable image to media, and then conduct the cloning.
