Formatting on Word not changing

I am currently updating a word file on Microsoft words 2010 and the word file which was initially created was not done by me. The issue I am having is that the file is in one font and when I try to change it, it reverts to the original font of the document. How can I change that?

Formatting on Word not changing

First close all the open documents. Open a new blank word document and follow these simple steps

Step 1: In the font ribbon, click on the arrow at the bottom right of the ribbon, a font dialog box will appear.

 

Step 2: Select the desired options to be applied to your document body, such as font style, its size etc. If a specific text is selected, then its properties are set in the dialog box.

Step 3: Select “Set as Default”

 

Step 4: In reaction to this action a dialog box appears, in it select “All documents based on the Normal template?”

Step 5: Click “OK”

 

Step 6: Now, every new document you open will use the font settings that you have set as default.
