Hello

I need to know some information. Why is it essential for forest basis domain to stay operable in Windows Server 2008?

For the reason that the Global Catalog server puts the main database of every user, agreements and everything else in Active list.

Please help.

Thanks.

Forest Basis Domain:

It is essential for the forest basis domain to stay operable in Windows Server 2008 because basis domain should be equal to or greater than the forest functional level otherwise it poses a problems to Domain Level Basis

Coming to Global Catalog:

1. Global Catalog have the complete information about the user, agreements and everything else in Active list and have partial

information about the other domains in the forest.

2. There is no problem, if one basis domain is running under a Global Catalog service.

3. If the forest basis domain is running under a Global Catalog, then all the database should remain active else some problem will popup.
