Hi. I have been getting this error of VPN connection terminated locally by the client reason 442 whenever I try connecting to the remote VPN server. I have never got this error message before whenever I have installed Cisco VPN client. However, I am getting this error in Windows 7. How to go about solving it?

Fixing Of VPN Connection End Locally On Client Reason 442 Error CISCO

The error that you might be facing will be something like VPN connection terminated locally by the client reason 442.

This error comes up due to the Internet Connection Sharing service.

To solve it-

1) Stop the VPN Service.

2) Stop and turn off the Internet Connection Sharing service.

3) Then, start the VPN service again.

Start the VPN client again and your problem will get solved.

Or you could –

1) Login using the administrator account.

2) Type run in the Windows start, type Regedit and then go to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>CurrentControlSet>Services>CVirtA

After this, edit the display name value to “Cisco Systems VPN Adapter for 64-bit Windows”
