Can anybody tell me of a VMware copy paste DOS Windows fix code? I could copy from my applications to the VMware but how come I couldn’t do it vice versa? I think there is just some security feature to disable or a policy to fix, but couldn’t point out where. Anybody has an idea?

Hi,

It's not possible to copy from the VMware to Windows because such a feature is not available. Whether it is because of security or just some policy is something that i don't really know. However you can share files( In your case text files because of the code ) by creating a shared folder between the VMware and the Windows.

You can find the option to create a shared folder by clicking on the "Settings" button on the VMware toolbar. Then click on "Sharing" and then add the Shared folders and follow the prompts.

Isaac,

It is possible to copy and paste within a command prompt window but it is not like the conventional method you would normally use (ctrl+c and ctrl+v). In order to paste something you have copied from a normal Windows program you would right click in the command prompt window and choose paste. Now to copy takes more steps.

The copy function will take place inside of a rectangle. If you want to copy you choose the text by dragging your mouse in the shape of a rectangle around what you want copied. Once you have the text encased in the rectangle you hit enter to copy the text to your clipboard. Now that you have the text on the clipboard you can right click and choose paste inside the command prompt window or you can go to a conventional window and paste things like you normally would.
