Hi,

I wanted to rename one of my file and received an error message.

However, It became applicable for all of my files and folders. My machine is running with Windows Vista.

Have a look at the screenshot.

How can I get a remedy of this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Jabez,

You got this kind of error when you try to rename or to move a file or a folder under running Window Vista. This error occurs because the Folder ID registry keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerFolderDescriptions.

There is few steps to modify the registry, make sure that you follow these steps carefuly.

To solve this problem, create the missing FolderID registry keys in the following registry subkey based on the values in Knownfolders.h

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHONESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerFolderDescriptions
