I must urgently send some CDs to a friend of mine but important data will be stored on them and I want to be sure that nobody copies or duplicates that data. Don't know how to password protect the files or lock the CDs, and on top of that I have a Macbook and I am no expert at running software on it. So can you guys tell me how to lock CDs on a Mac but step by step because I am new to this area.

Ok So do as follows.

  1. Copy all data from CD to a Mac Folder.
  2. Now goto Finder<Application<Utilities<Disk Utility.
  3. Launch Disk Utility
  4. From the File Menu, select New<Disk Image from Folder
  5. Select your folder to which CD was copied. Give your location to save the image file. Also from the below menu 'Image Format' select Read/Write instead of Compressed. Change Encryption to 128-bit AES Encryption (recommended). Click Save. The Process is initiated.
  6. A Window appears to entry & verify password. Put your password. Click OK. The process continues.
