Hi Brainy,

I love to play games in the computer, so I installed EverQuest II. I am getting a weird error when I play EverQuest. The error sounds like missing some files in the computer. I tried the common methods uninstall and reinstall but nothing seems to work. Do I need to download the DirectX? Please suggest me some solutions to solve this error. Thanks in advance.

EverQuest II has detected an unrecoverable error and must shutdown.

If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 it should not cause any problems unless you are using Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. I think the problem here is with your video card since the error is associated to DirectX. Make sure your graphics adapter is supported because if you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, you are already using a much newer version of Microsoft DirectX higher than Microsoft DirectX 9.

The solution you can try is to update your video card’s driver to the latest version and then see if this works. The supported video card for EverQuest II is a graphics adapter that supports Pixel Shader or Vertex Shader with minimum 64 MB video RAM. That’s the smallest possible video RAM for the video card to run EverQuest II.

For the game’s specifications, EverQuest II requires Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. Since this is an online game, you need a fast internet connection for the game. If updating your video card’s driver doesn’t help, purchasing a new video card with a much higher video RAM will surely fix the problem.
