ERROR_INSTALL_USER EXIT 1602 The user cancels installation.

I tried to install Photosmart C4200 and drivers for a C4280 printer all over again on a new Win 7-64 system.

It worked fine on Win XP. Have tried several recommended fixes. 

 

The error message I extracted from the log, 1602, is not listed.  The link to HP troubleshooting website (code not listed) is circular back to this same page. 

Return=3010 is not listed either. Windows 7 installer does not allow for installation options such as drivers only.

Please! Help!

Hello Alex,

That is probably an error due to an error with the setup application that you are using. If you are able to install it successfully on win XP but it is failing to install on windows 7, then that is with no doubt an error due to compatibility issues. You will need to get a version that is meant specifically for Windows 7 64 bit.

You may want to download your printer driver from the HP Download drivers and software website as I can see in your screenshot that it wasn't able to retrieve a specific line or file as indicated in the installation instruction. Your driver CD might have corrupted data or maybe some sectors are unreadable. You may want to use this link to get your official drivers for the HP Photosmart C4280 printer series.
