I have this error, on having used windows Movie Marker.

The project was not opened because opening the project was canceled .

Why has the red X on the left side if this is not a critical error? Why is this error even?

I think you need to check whether the clips are saved as ".WMV" format. Also, you can look for your PC's system requirement as well as check your PC's security system.

An Error occurred in Windows Movie Marker

Hello Davis,

You can troubleshoot the problem by starting Movie Maker in Safe mode and removing third-party video filters.

Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.

Type CD program filesmovie maker into the input field and press Enter.

Type moviemk.exe /safe mode and press Enter again to launch Movie Maker in Safe mode.

Click Tools in the Movie Maker navigation menu > Options > Compatibility tab.

Click to clear the check boxes next to all third-party video filters in the Filters section.

When you relaunch Movie Maker in normal mode, the program should work correctly.
