An error occurred in checksum hard disk tool

After running my GSmartControl, this error appeared "Error in Attribute Data structure: checksum error". Is there a problem with my checksum hard disk tool? Or does it shows a failure in the hard disk?

Please help.

Hello Jaclyn,

The error message "Error in Attribute Data structure: checksum error" means that your GSmartControl has become corrupted or your hard disk drive is sending back bad SMART data.

It doesn't indicate a hard disk crash or failure. You can try running the Disk Utility program that comes with Ubuntu and see if your hard disk is able to read the bad SMART information or not.

You can run the "Disk Utility" program by following these steps:

1. Open "System" menu and select "Administration".

2. Select "Disk Utility".

GSmartControl has become corrupted

I hope this solves the case.
