Whenever you get this error 3194, The first thing you need to do  is to Update to latest version of ITunes. It can also be that your router settings causing this issue.
If you have latest ITunes version on your device , then first try and uninstall the latest version before reinstalling the same.
All your host files should contain entries that point to gs.apple.com server.

To search for Host file on Windows go to c:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts. If there are any entries here that points to server other than gs.apple.com , then it can cause an error.

Also try and reset your host file back to default. To do this use the " Fix it " wizard from Microsoft: Here is the link that can help you with this:

If you attempted to restore the original firmware of your Apple iPod touch with iTunes when the problem happened, you are probably using an incompatible version of iTunes on your iPod touch. Normally, when creating a backup of your device with iTunes, you normally would need the latest iTunes.

This is required because iTunes triggers different errors when it is not compatible with the OS or firmware of the device. You can download the latest version from Download iTunes Latest. But since you want to roll back your device to its original firmware even after all the updates you did, in this case, you need a specific version of iTunes that will successfully restore your device.

To restore the original firmware of your device, you need to use iTunes 7.5. Download iTunes 7.5.0.20 on FileHippo. For the complete guide how you can restore the original firmware back to your iPod touch, head down to Roll Back iPod touch. If you are using a Mac, go to Download iTunes All Versions.

You can find here all versions of iTunes both for Microsoft Windows and OS X.
