My GIMP stopped working and instead I get this error message: “gimp-2.6.exe-Unable To Locate Component.” So I uninstalled and reinstalled the program. However I still get the same error message after doing so.

Error:

gimp-2.6.exe-Unable To Locate Component

This application has failed to start because libglib-2.0-0.dll was not found.Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

The error simply tells that the libglib DLL file is missing from your computer when you installed the plugin in C drive. There are few ways that you can get that file back.

As you have already tried installing twice, I say download the latest GIMP from their site and follow the instructions on how to install it properly.

Run an online scan of the PC to see any viruses in your PC. Sometimes viruses damages the DLL files and rename them or modify them in such a way that computer is not able to find them and then you get this error.

If you can't download, then look for the DLL file on the internet. such files are easily available because these are very important executable files.

if you are using windows 7 or vista, try running the installation in administrator mode.
