Could somebody tell me what this is all about and what it means.?

I would really like to know what kind of error is this..

What steps or ways I might do to prevent this?

Error:

You may be a victim of software counterfeiting.

This copy of Windows did not pass genuine Windows validation.

Error Display on my Desktop

It seems that your copy of Windows Operating System is not original or licensed by Microsoft. If I’m not mistaken, you started getting the said warning after you tried to get a Microsoft update automatically which detected that your Windows Operating System is not genuine. In this case you can try any of the following to have this issue resolve:

• You can format your hard drive but I would recommend that you back up all your important files first in an external storage device to avoid losing them, and make sure also that you have all the drivers and installers you’ll need for all the applications and programs you have on your computer because you will have to reinstall them afterwards
• You can bring your system to a local technician, and ask them to format it for you but you must insist that they install an original Windows Operating System otherwise you’ll get the same issue after you do the automatic update again
• Stop the automatic update
• Buy a CD or download an original Windows Operating System
