“Error code x80040882” when installing Google Chrome

Hi everyone.

While trying to install the Google Chrome web browser, I found an error code that says "x80040882".

This only occurred while trying to run the installer of Google Chrome browser.

This happens when doing either via double clicking the installer and by "Run as administrator" context menu.

I don’t understand what type of problem is this.

Does anybody have any idea on how to install the browser, and any way to resolve this issue?

One of the followings will solve your problem.

1. If there is any application newly uninstalled from your machine, then I advocate you to download CCleaner in your Computer, now run the cleaning activity, it module removed the files from your computer’s Hard Disk those are unused and power be effort this write.

2. Virus files can also create this error, simply examine the system with an up to stamp antivirus thought and then easily get out of this, so is this also applicator in your problem.

3. Your Firewall Protection can also show this problem, before that represent sure that the Firewall setting is checked under the window tab.

Hi Nicearellano,

It seems you have trouble installing Google chrome, from your question, its clear that the problem is either because of malware activity on your PC or you are having a corrupted installation exe file. 

First try downloading latest Google chrome from this website, make sure you have uninstalled the Google chrome if you have any older version or any other versions, this step is important . 

The URL for downloading Google chrome:- 

Click download latest version on the right and download it, Now click install it as usual, 

If it doesn't worked means you are having malware activity in your PC, please install any good antivirus, I personally recommend kaspersky internet security,

The only reason that will prevent you from installing a web browser is incompatibility. If you are installing Google Chrome, check that the version you are installing is compatible with your operating system. If you are using Windows XP or Windows Vista, you won’t be able to install and use the latest version.

The last version of the browser to support Windows XP and Windows Vista is Google Chrome 49.0.2623.112-m. To download the latest version, go to Google Chrome. This link allows you to download the standalone or offline installer for the Google Chrome browser. If you have Windows XP or Windows Vista, download Google Chrome 49.0.2623.112 from FileHippo.
