Yestrday, I tried to log into Windows Live Messenger when  I encountered an error. I don’t know the reason for this error but I am unable to log in.  I received the following error message:

Error Code: 80072f19

I was first using IE and it never had such an error before. About two days, before I installed Firefox, it started receiving this error. Now, is there a way to fix this error without installing IE again?

Occasionally,  this error comes very fast if you are using MSN messenger 7. If one uses much the  MSN messenger beta 7, and use it on Windows 2003 server,  then there are chances that one will receive an error message: 80072f19 while trying to login. The error occurs because of patching IE 6 SPI with the latest security fixes. To resolve this do the following:

  • Start IE and select menu > tools > internet options > advanced
  • Security section > clear the “Check for server certificate revocation”
  • Start MSN again and you will have to issue your password account information again.
  • You will receive one error message. Log-in and you are done.

The above settings require you to restart.  If you do not,  then you might get the error again.  Later,  you will go without any error.

This might also be caused by some corrupted cache files for Windows Live Messenger. You can resolve this by simply deleting these files.  After you delete these files, messenger will re-synchronize this information on your next log-in.
