Error Cannot quit Microsoft Excel

Hi,

I am sharing here an issue in Microsoft Excel. I always receive an error message everytime I quit Microsoft Excel. See the attached screen shot below.

MICROSOFT EXCEL

Cannot quit Microsoft Excel

As I read on the error message, it’s very simple to look at, but very annoying because it pops up every time I quit Excel. My first remedy  to this error was to remove Excel and install it again. However, it did not solve the issue.

I also did a virus of my computer for some viruses, but no virus was found. The only thing I did not do was reformat my computer. Please share some ideas on this issue. Thanks a lot.

Try this solution and just hoping it will help you out.

  • Click the start button and point your mouse cursor to the control panel
  • In Windows XP, just click twice the folder options
  • Click the Control Panel, then all Control Panel Items then click twice the folder options.
  • Now you can click the File Types tabular, then you will have to select XLS File, then click Advance.
  • You will see the box next to the browse in the same window is checked, you will have to remove the checkmark on that box.
  • Then Click Ok, Image below for reference.

    Thanks.

Hi dear,

There are a number of things can courses to this matter. I tell you some reasons.

Excel may have any of pending tasks or opened dialog boxes and also opened visual basic editor. You should close these things and allow pending tasks to complete before closing.

Your worksheet may have any cell or number of cells with invalid values. If it right, you want to check them and renew with valid ones.

There are some macros can running in the step mode. You can disable macros. It is in the trust center at the office button (windows 7).

Excel add-ins can make this matter with startup excel application and can disable close button. The name is that add-in is Novel Groupwise. You should disable this add-in to avoid this matter. To do this, run Excel.exe /safe on the run option.
You may need to enter the path like C:Program FilesMicrosoft Office 2003Office11Excel.exe" /safe

Start Excel in Safe Mode as I said above. Then, choose Add-Ins from the Toolsmenu. Next you can disable that add-in.
