Email problem with port 25 with SharePoint

I have used Exchange and SharePoint. After restarting SharePoint server did not work with email port 25. Then, I have restored to SBS 2008 exchange box and it worked fine. What’s wrong with SP 2007?? Any Idea??

Email problem with port 25 with SharePoint

Port 25 is used for listening and communicating. You should use 80 or 443(if you have ssl). I think you get your answer.

Hello Celia Matthies,

I will advise that you try changing the port 25 that you are using in SharePoint to another number, like 26 and see if it will work that way. May be there some other program that is using the same port on you system and therefore SharePoint is clashing with it and thus causing the problem you are having.

You should also check event viewer in SharePoint, see if there is any information that gives you a clue on what might be possible cause of the problem and then use it to troubleshoot the problem, or post back the details so that we can see how we can go about helping you solve the problem.
