If my wireless or wired router has a built-in firewall, should I also turn on Windows Firewall? Why? Why not?

Hi,

You are strongly recommended to turn on Windows Firewall though your wireless or wire router has a built-in-firewall. Windows firewall will protect your computer from local corruption as well as your network corruption. Be careful using DVD/CD and USB flash drive. If you copy something from DVD/CD, there may remain Virus as supported by the disk format. As it is read only your Antivirus may not identify them. Even you will not be able to delete them.  Your USB flash drive is also at great risk. It is a great source of Virus. You must check your external disk drive with an update version of Antivirus. Your Windows Firewall will help you in this regard.

I hope you understand it.

Thanks

Windows Firewall is a component of Microsoft Windows and it is advisable to always turn your Firewall on to keep your network secure. To answer your question, no matter what type of connection, whether it is wired or wireless, VPN or Fire Wire, your Windows Firewall is set to enable by default. And it includes exceptions that will allow connections to your local network. So as long as you are not getting any conflicts with any of it, it is always best that you set your Firewall to always on.
