I heard windows XP allows another user to log in and use the system without having to log out the previous user and quit any running application.

I need to know is it true? I would like to know the system.

Hi,

Yes it’s true. There is system in windows XP. It is very simple work. This system called Switch user.

First go to control panel then user account and give a password for your current user account. Then create a new account from here because you need at least two user accounts for this work. So create a limited type of account with username and password.

Now go to start menu and then click on log off option. This box will come.

Here click on Switch user option. Then give new user account’s username and password and then login. You can go back to previous account with same way. You will see all program is running as it was before.

What I seen from you image. I think your user settings has already been change and it won't allow you to switch user. To make a dual log on you computer or even multiple logs. Then you need two or more than accounts to be able to do your multiple logs.

Now you need to change the way the users log on the computer.

To access the above window. Click Start and the Control Panel. Go to User Accounts and then click on the link for the Change the way the user login. Then make sure to have both check boxes enabled.

Then apply this options and then try your dual log now. Press Windows+L or press Log off using Start button then Switch User.
