We all knew that it was announced earlier this year that the brand new Huawei Ascend Mate2 would not be getting an upgrade to the newest version of Android. The most of us had a suggestion that only the USA-based version of the Mate2 would be getting no update to Android KitKat. Does Huawei Ascend Mate2 go along with KitKat or straight to Lollipop?Â
Originally, the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and during the time when Android 5.0 Lollipop is not yet around, the manufacturer doesn’t say anything about updating the phone to Android KitKat. But this time when major phone manufacturers like Motorola, Samsung, HTC, and others are planning to update to the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop, they seem to reconsider the update.
But it would only be the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 that is available in the United States that will be receiving the update. But later on, when the reconsideration to update to Android KitKat seems likely to happen, they again announced that the supposed update to Android KitKat will be skipped and that Huawei Ascend Mate 2 will go straight to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The update to Android 5.0 Lollipop is planned in the first half of next year, 2015. So, for the meantime, Ascend Mate 2 users will not expect any update on their operating system and will just have to wait for next year and stick with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
