Disk I/O error occurred in Skype.

I have installed Skype V5.8.0.945 on my Mac OS 10.5.8 after that I am getting Disk I/O error. But V2.8 works

Disk I/O error. Quit and restart Skype. If you keep seeing this error, please contact Skype customer support.

Disk I/O error occurred in Skype.

Hi? It’s quite clear that the version of Skype you are trying to run isn’t compatible with your computer that is why you are getting an input/output (I/O) error. You can check for updates and see if the issue has been addressed by Skype themselves. You can also download the windows version and run it on your Mac using one of the many windows emulators. Disk I/O error occurred in Skype.

This looks like a compatibility issue. I guess you will not be able to use Skype V5.8.0.945 on Mac OS 10.5.8, until Skype programmers resolve the issue. Till then, you would need to do with Skype V2.8. Many users have seen this error of Disk I/O error. 

This is a programming issue and Skype needs to resolve it.

However, have you tried restarting your computer, you never know, sometimes it does wonders.
