Hi guys!

I've been assigned by my employer to do some web content jobs for their site.

There are two option that I could do. It is to post either a Blog or an Article.

Could somebody tell me what's the difference between these two?

I usually end up telling that a blog is also an article.

Blogging and article writing are almost similar, it’s quite difficult to differentiate the two – but here are the basic differences:

  • Blogs are more informal and casual in nature. It is mostly personal and blogs are more of giving out opinions–compared to articles which has a more formal tone and usually gives out information.

  • Articles need more research, as they need to have credibility while blog writers are more relaxed and can talk about topics that are still evolving.

  • Blog writing requires frequent output as readers expect more regular updates than article readers

  • Most articles are used for selling products or service, while most blogs usually don’t have any marketing intention

  • Article writing is serious work, you need to include all the keywords in a strategic manner to get higher page ranking –while blogs don’t follow a structure.

  • Blogs are written in first person, while articles are written in third person style of writing.

There are a lot of differences between blogs and articles and the reason to either depends on your motive. If your agenda is for business or to seriously sell products or services, then article writing for you. If you plan on just updating the customers on your company trends, then you might go on do some blogging.
