Detect if iPhone 4s is locked or unlocked

I have a new iPhone 4s and I have no experience of ever using such a phone before. I am currently interested in knowing how one detects if the iPhone 4s is locked or unlocked at the same time avoid removing the SIM card? I was informed by a colleague that before 11th of November Sprint iPhones are unlocked. Can anyone confirm the authenticity of this statement?

Detect if iPhone 4s is locked or unlocked

Hello Shara Reese, I have read you issue on how about your iPhone. There are reasons why these companies have locked their networks. This has been developed over the years and you can find that there are unlocked editions coming in the market now. The iPhone you are using you need to check it with your network what version you have been using.

You can purchase an iPhone with the unlocked edition through apple also and it would cost more than the locked ones.

Sprint’s has rules why they have a SIM locked network however for international purpose in the future consumers are permitted to unlock the SIM so they can still use it.
