Hi,

I want to know what are the duties of a Database Administrator (DBA) when in terms of getting access privilege. Can you please cite some categories that you can see in Database Management System (DBMS) evaluation and selection list?

To Rampalvai,

What are the DBA's responsibilities regarding access privileges? DBA's responsibilities are to protect the database for the benefit of all users, understands the primary business function. Able to identify data and information requirements for the consideration of the DBMS platform in order to develop a checklist of requirements for the involvement in the evaluation and selection of the DBMS .

There are policies in the database management, it formulates, communicates to users and enforces these policies. Access privileges enters appropriate authorization rules in DBMS and it is documented by the DBA in which the top-level management will be the one to approve, then DBA communicates to all users. Some users are not given, permitted or denied on access privileges. attached is the sample of the person who is not permitted or denied.

The DBMS evaluation and selection checklist are:

1. Cost of the System.

2. Features and Tools.

3. Customer Support and Training.

4. Underlying Data Model.

5. Portability.

6. Hardware Requirements.
