Create rule to move mails to specific folder Gmail?

Hello there Rulerman.

  • Gmail does not have "folders" like most of us are accustomed to in our e-mail clients and other web-based e-mail services such as Yahoo! mail or MSN. Instead of folders, Gmail uses "labels" to help you in organizing your e-mails.
  • What are labels? Here's how Gmail explains how labels are different from folders and what makes them better than folders:
  • Download Link1
  • Here's a link from Gmail which discusses in detail (better than I ever can) how to create, delete, edit, search and use labels:
  • Download Link2
  • Finally, here's the link that will guide you in creating your first filter and making it actually work:

Hope this helps!

Hi Rulerman,
Don't worry it is a very easy way to create a filter for your e-mails coming on Gmail when you try it you will find that it is similar to any other mail server or as you create a rule in outlook, it will take less than a minute .

  •  After you open your account on Gmail follow all the coming steps to create a filter:

 1. Click "Create a filter" – you can find it next to the Search the Web button at the top of the page, if you didn't see it, search the page using Ctrl + F.
2. Enter the domain name you mentioned before in the "From" field.
3. You can click "Test Search" to see which messages currently in your mail account match your rule, then click "Next Step".
4. You will see a lot of choices all you need is to select "Apply the label" and select the folder you need to move into, and if not found the needed folder, you can choose "New Label" to create new one
5. If you want to move the already coming message exist in your domain check "Also apply filter to …" you can find it next to "Create filter" button
6. Click Create Filter.

Hope my answer can help you, and don't hesitate to contact me if there is any comments

Best Regards
nora
