Supposedly, if you are using Google Talk 1, it should work well on Microsoft Windows 8. There is no compatibility issue. Make sure that your user account has administrative privileges before installing Google Talk to avoid any system restrictions during the installation. To try it again, uninstall Google Talk and then open Disk Cleanup.

Point the mouse to the lower right corner of the screen and select Settings, Control Panel. In the search box type without quotes “admin”, click Administrative Tools and then Disk Cleanup. Select drive C and click OK. Check “Temporary files”, click OK, and then “Delete files”. Wait until it is finished and restart your computer.

Next, download and install the latest version from Google Hangouts. If you still encounter a problem, try unblocking it in the Windows Firewall. Click Start, Control Panel, in the search box type without quotes “firewall”, and then click Windows Firewall. Click “Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall” located on the left side of the screen. See image.

Click “Change settings”. When prompted, enter your password to continue. Check the box of the program you want to allow, select the network locations, and then click OK.
