Hi, Today when I tried to connect my pen drive to my laptop, my laptop isn’t recognizing the pen drive. I’m using the same pen drive and the same laptop now for almost two years. Why is this happening now, and how to fix this?

First of all, you should try to connect it to some different port. If still not connecting, then try to connect your pen drive to some other PC or laptop. It will make clear to you that if your pen drive is working correctly or not. If it is not connecting to some other PC, which means your pen drive is corrupt.

If it is connecting then try to insert some other USB device to your laptop. If that’s also not working, that means that something is wrong with your laptop and not you’re your PC. It could be happening because the driver went missing or got corrupted.

To check this, open Run dialog box and type ‘devmgmt.msc.’

It will take you to the Device Management window.

Now check either USB drive is listed or not. Check if there’s a yellow exclamation mark next to your flash drive in Device Manager.

The yellow exclamation mark indicates that there is some problem with the driver. Right click on the device to bring the properties window. There will be an error message in properties stating why your driver is not working.

Copy that error message and search it on Google. If the error is saying that the driver is inadequate, missing or out of date, you can fix this problem. You can visit the manufacturer’s website and can download the driver compatible with your OS.
