Changing the refresh frequency of my monitor

My monitor flickers too much. I want to change the refresh frequency of my monitor but I'm not able to do it. How to change it? Where will I go? Please help.

Changing the refresh frequency of my monitor

For Windows XP

Right click on an empty space on your Desktop, select Properties.

There are 5 tabs. (Themes, Desktop, Screen Saver, Appearance and Settings). Select Settings, and then click the Advanced button (lower right).

A menu will appear with multiple tabs. Click on the Monitor tab.

You will notice the Screen refresh rate section and below it there is a drop down menu with screen refresh rate values.

Make sure the “Hide modes that this monitor cannot display” box is checked.

Select the highest value from the Screen refresh rate drop down menu.

Click Apply and then OK.

You  have successfully changed your monitor’s refresh rate in Windows XP.

 

 

For Windows Vista

Right click on an empty space on your Desktop, select Personalize, and then click on the Display Settings button.

Click Advanced Settings. Select the Monitor tab.

Make sure the “Hide modes that this monitor cannot display” box is checked.

Select the highest value from the Screen refresh rate drop down menu.

Click Apply and then OK.

You  have successfully changed your monitor’s refresh rate in Windows Vista.

 

 

For Windows 7

Right click on an empty space on your Desktop and select Screen resolution. Go to Advanced settings. Click the Monitor tab.

Make sure the “Hide modes that this monitor cannot display” box is checked (or grey and unselectable)

Select the highest value from the Screen refresh rate drop down menu.

Click Apply and then OK.

You  have successfully changed your monitor’s refresh rate in Windows 7.
