Cannot open PDF files after updating Adobe Reader 11.3.1

I am unable to get my PDF files or folders to open on my iPad, I only get a blank screen. This happened after I updated to iOS 7.1.1 and Adober Reader version 11.3.1. I did the update because I was getting a lot of problems with Adobe but apparently, it made the issue worst. What should I do?

The new Adobe Reader version is known for having problems with the iOS 7.1.1 version. The easiest way to avoid this problem is by using an alternative PDF reader for your iPad that will give you the same options as Adobe Reader. I would be best for you to wait for Adobe to release a new update for it.

My suggestions are the following:

1. PDF Reader – it's an exact copy of Adobe Reader and it has the same function as to what you used before. It's created with the intention of offering a very simple but also plentiful PDF reader that you can use without any difficulties.

2. Foxit MobilePDF – it's a step up over the traditional PDF reader. It offers many more functions, like exporting in different format, edting, transforming anything in PDF format and many more other. It's completely free.

3. EzPDF Reader – it's a very easy and basic, easy to use, PDF reader. You add annotations, hyperlinks, and even emebed audio and video files to certain parts on the PDF file.

4. Good Reader 4 – this one has all the above functions of the combined three, and even supports Google Drive connections. It has a word-wrap function to make the text fit the screen, you can create sticky notes, draw on the file, and even share annotations.

The latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader for iOS is Adobe Acrobat Reader 19.04.01 which requires iOS 11.2 or higher. It is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Now, if your iPad is running on iOS 7 or earlier, this shouldn’t be a problem.

The Apple App Store can provide the latest compatible version of Adobe Acrobat Reader for your iPad running on iOS 7 or even older iOS versions. To download the latest compatible version for your device, on your iPad, go to or open the App Store app then search for without quotes “Acrobat Reader”. Next, try downloading the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader.

When you are prompted with “Download an older version of this app”, just click “Download” to get the latest compatible version for your device. On the other hand, if you only see an “OK” button instead of the “Download” button, it means you haven’t installed Adobe Acrobat Reader using that specific Apple ID. To associate Adobe Acrobat Reader with your Apple ID, you need a computer with iTunes installed.

On your iPad, go to “Settings” then “iTunes & App Store” to check for the Apple ID you are using for the App Store. On your computer, start iTunes then log in with the same Apple ID you use on your iPad.

Find Adobe Acrobat Reader and download it on your computer but don’t try to install it on your iPad because the latest version is not compatible with your device. You can now switch back to your iPad to download the latest compatible version for your device. You will now be presented with the dialog with the “Download” button.

To download the latest version, go to Adobe Acrobat Reader on the Apple App Store to download.
