Cannot Install Windows Hotfix 947821 Windows 7

On my home computer, I was facing some issues while downloading Windows Update. I was told to download and install Windows hotfix 94782. When I try to download this, everything works fine until the installation. It stops at around 80%. What to do?

It is important that you understand that hotfix 947821 is not actually a hotfix but a Windows Updates Readiness Tool, which basically solves any problems that the system might encounter while downloading and installing Windows updates.

Several things can be done in this case. First, run the Windows Updates Troubleshooter. If the troubleshooter is able to find the problem, it will guide you on how to fix it. If the troubleshooter does not find anything, then try and install hotfix 947821 in a clean boot. This will avoid the case where a third-party application was interfering with the update. If all these fails, try and wait a little longer than you have to. Simply waiting for a little longer has worked for many users.
