Cannot install Comodo Firewall. Error: 1603

Comodo Firewall was always my choice and using it for years.  When I found a new version of it of late, I downloaded it and tried to update it to a new version but unable to do it anyhow.  The following error message appeared on the screen: "Cannot install Comodo Firewall. Error: 1603 Fatal error during installation. ”

For your information my operating system is Windows XP Service pack 3.  Is there any solution for that?  How am I going to get rid with that kind of error.  I hope anybody out there can help me.

Cannot install Comodo Firewall. Error: 1603

Dear Acrylos,

Please use the below mentioned steps in sequential fashion to rectify the issue.
This is based on the assumption that the previous software has been installed to the C: drive.

You need to get rid of the previous version completely, even from the Registry before you install a fresh one.

Step1:  Click on Start >Run > type cmd to open the command screen. Execute the below mentioned command to unregister cavshell.dll
Command:  REGSVR32 /u C:Program FilesCOMODOCOMODO Internet Securitycavshell.dll

If the first step does not fixes the issue try subsequent steps.

Step 2a:  Click on Start > Run > type appwiz.cpl to open the Add/Remove Program.
Select the Comodo Software and click on uninstall to remove the same.
 

Step 2b: Download the Comodo Firewall Clean up utility from the link as specified.

Save the download to the desktop and run the same to uninstall the software.
 

Step 2c: Take a backup of the Registry before trying out this step.
Once the Registry backup is taken, open the Registry Editor search for the software with the name. Delete all the entries found by repeated search.

One such entry might be HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMSoftwareCOMODO
Delete all the relevant entries.

Step 2d:  Search for the remnants of the software in the installation drive. Search it with *Comodo* and delete the relevant folders.

Once such example is C:Documents & SettingsAll UsersDesktopCOMODO Firewall Pro.

Restart the computer and then install the software again.

Cannot install Comodo Firewall. Error: 1603

I seems a clean installation might just solve your issue.

1. Uninstall Comodo Internet Security.

2. Now boot into safe mode from your boot screen.

3. In safe mode run the clean up tool for CIS.

4. Now again boot back into your normal windows and again run the installer clean up tool and remove the CIS traces that are present.

5. Now try installing with the two on access scanners disabled.

If the error persists download CIS repair tool from here and run it to fix your issue.
