Can I use two anti-virus softwares on my computer?

Hi!

I am very strict when someone using my computer. If they are using a USB, I always tell them to scan it first before using it because, it might have virus that can infect my computer. But some of Antivirus software cannot detect all the malwares. I am thinking to use two Antivirus software to make sure that ,no virus or other malware can get in to my computer. What are the possible issues that I might encounter when using more than one Antivirus?

Using more than one Antivirus software on your computer is ok. But if you are after a double protection, you  can use one Antivirus and one Antispyware software for your computer, this combination is very effective. You can just run the Antispyware if you need it but you must always update it to make sure it has the latest definitions.

If you are doubting your Antivirus then you can switch to other Antivirus software. There are many free Antiviruses out there that you can search on the web. Microsoft Security Essentials is a free Antivirus software that you can download directly from the Microsoft Download Center. The free version of AVG is also a great Antivirus that you can use for your computer.

If you plan to use two Antivirus softwares it can cause your computer performance to become slow especially when these two Antivirus performs a scan on your computer. These two softwares can cause conflicts with each other that will cause your computer to become more unprotected rather than protecting you from threats.

Hi!

Yes! It’s ok to use more than two Antiviruses on your computer system, Such as Avast Antivirus or Antispyware software and use both software at a time on your PC’s. But it is not a good choice because it’s affected your system performance is very low. Lots of Antivirus system working with spyware that make your system secures. You can use AVG software that is available in free version. You can easily download on the internet.

NOD32 antivirus is also best software that will be securing your system. It’s also protected the malware your files. You can also easily download on the internet.

Hello! Charles,

Having two Antivirus in one system is not quite a good choice for security. Not only it will consume a lot of your resources which will make your computer system performance slow. The methods of virus detection of Antiviruses software may differ, making the files of an Antivirus program be detected as a Virus file by the other Antivirus program.

Antivirus software coupled with a Antispyware software is also a good combination. but it has some drawback; "It consumes your computer resources". There are Antivirus software available with Antispyware support. AVAST Antivirus is my best recommendation.  You could just download the free version of their software or their paid version with more added security like (Antivirus, Anti spyware, Firewall, etc), complete in just one suite and consumes minimum of your resources.

Well! Your problem is quite genuine and I also did these sorts of things when I bought a new computer. But I would like you not to use two Antiviruses at a time because there might be conflict inside the system. Antivirus as we all know is also a virus which kills other virus in your computer. But when two strong Antiviruses are in the same computer will fight against each other and as a result will make the system slow while using your computer.

Now to recommend you a good Antivirus I will say please don’t use free Antiviruses as you also know that these don’t detect all the viruses?  Free things are always free and how can you expect a free thing to support you like a full version one. So please  download a trial version of (Kaspersky Internet Security). This is the best software available in the market which gives a pretty reasonable amount of protection even after being free software for 30 days. I am using this and I can surely recommend this to you. You will like it and won’t have to use two Antiviruses in the same computer. I hope I  helped you with the problem you had.
