Can I scan a spreadsheet for viruses?

Is it possible to just scan either an Excel spreadsheet or a Word document for viruses? I do online work and recently I updated a spreadsheet, and when I sent it to the next person, she said it had a virus. I think the person that sent it to me sent it with a virus.  Can I scan and clean a spreadsheet? If so, how? Thanks.

Can I scan a spreadsheet for viruses?

HI Eugene,

Yes, you can scan a single spread sheet using your current antivirus software that you would have installed, just right click on the relevant spreadsheet and you will find an option called as scan which will scan the spreadsheet and give you the result.

However, more advanced anti virus will scan anything that is downloaded from the internet and quarantine any virus if so. I would recommend this in future.
