Can I recover Xbox one games

I have my own profile on XBOX and my partner has his own. I recently played a game and when I saved, it erased his previous saved game. I understand that different profiles should save differently. What could be the problem with this? How can I recover my game? Is there a way to avoid this from happening in future?

Some games have a history of utilizing safe measurements to prevent frauds for example duplicate game servers, so games can not save file because a duplicate save file cause issues with server, some games also have sync problems they took about hours to save game, sorry you can't recover your previous games
 
I would prefer to delete your local game save and then reinstall or re sync this might help to prevent this in future.
