I just finished the game Mass Effect on my desktop that has a 4 GB RAM, 1 GB Video card and running on Windows Vista 64 bit.  I plan on playing Mass Effect 2.  Can I export mass effect character in Mass Effect 2?  Thanks.

Hi,

You can import Mass Effect save files to Mass Effect 2 by using the configuration tool.

1. After launching the game, choose Configure
2. Hit Saved Games options.
3. Locate the Mass Effect 1 game data. By default, the directory is C:UsersYOURNAMEDocumentsBioWareMassEffectSave
4. Hit Mass Effect 2, Save Settings then Exit
5. Choose Play on Launcher, then hit New Game
6. Import Mass Effect 1

In the event that the list of Mass Effect 1 save data is empty, go to the folder C:UsersYOURNAMEDocumentsBioWareMassEffectSave and locate the save file you wish to import and copy it. You will need to paste it in  C:UsersYOURNAMEDocumentsBioWareMass Effect 2SaveME1. Launch the game, choose New Game, then Import Mass Effect 1.

Hi Donnaa,

Let me give a simplest way to import characters from Mass Effect 1 to Mass effect 2. You just need to Run MassEffect2Config.exe in the Binaries folder of Mass Effect 2 found in Mass Effect 2 > Binaries directory, and then you can use this to import your saved profile. In that directory you can also find the Mass Effect 2 Launcher as well as the FAQ.
