Hello Everyone!!

I am currently using a Dell Inspiron laptop with windows 7 Operating system and recently a blue screen with error message pops up.

This usually happens every time I'm trying to shut down windows or whenever I try to close a program.

What's the reason why this blue screen appears?

And what can I do to  get rid and/or prevent this error message?

Could this affect my  laptop's hardware devices?

Thanks in advance to those who will offer solutions.

Hi Kimz_KY, There are numbers of reasons why computer is getting a blue screen. Let me provide you the information as to why and what are the possible cause and solutions to this issue.

Check this out;

1. The blue screen issue is caused by either hardware or software.

2. New hardware/software installed and its affect computer's existing components causes blue screen to happen.

3. Virus and Malware infections causes damage internal hard drive resulting to have a blue screen.

4. Non-functioning hardware inside caused by a manufacturer's defect.

Solutions to this are;

a. For hardware issues, this needs to be replaced.

b. For software issue;

  • Click Start, Control Panel
  • Double Problem Reports and Solutions
  • Look for Task pane in the upper left then Click for new Solutions.
  • If No solutions show, Close it and go to Solutions to install or Information about the problems, and then the steps will guide you to solve the issue.

A change of hard drive is the most practical way of solving it because this might damage the whole laptop computer.

If you keep receiving a blue screen error whenever you try to shut down your computer or exit an application, try using the System File Checker utility. Press the Windows key + R to bring up the “Run” dialog then type the following and then hit Enter:

sfc /scannow

Insert your Windows installation CD or DVD when you are prompted then continue. Wait until the process is complete. When it is finished, restart the computer. If this doesn’t work, try updating Windows 7 to the latest Service Pack. Download the following and install:

  • Windows 7 Service Pack 1 – this is the latest and only Service Pack update for Microsoft Windows 7. This requires a system restart when updating is complete.
  • Platform Update for Windows 7 – this should be installed after installing or updating to Windows 7 Service Pack 1
