A web filter is something that decides on what content will be shown to the user accessing a website or the user could also be restricted from accessing this website using web filter. This is usually used in colleges and universities to prevent students from using the college Wifi network to access unpleasant websites and web pages. All this can be set by the admin of the network or whoever is the incharge. A web filter also secures your network from threats like virus, malware etc. But students still find a way to do what they want to do. You can counter a web filter by using extensions like ‘psiphon’, ‘hotspot shield’ and ‘free my browser’. I hope I provided the necessary help.
