Is a black screen ps2 hdd error? My ps2 just blacked out, I have tried to restore it to the recovery mode and formatted the HDD but still it cant turn on. Do I need to buy another HDD?

Hi,

How are you doing?

There are many factors that affect why your PS2 screen went all black. It could be a damaged laser, the game is not working already and/or the disk as you said.

Perhaps, you can try to do things and see if it will work out:

1.       Clean the laser lens and the disc tray with a cotton (dip it a little in alcohol)

2.       Try to spray it with compressed air to remove any dirt

3.       Check the disk for any damage like scratches.

Be careful when doing this because if disk is damage, it will likely to cause major problems.
