Avira shows error while trying to open the program

The “avscan.exe” executable is a program associated with Avira antivirus. Normally, an antivirus application starts with Windows during startup and that’s why you always see this message every time you start your computer. Since this error constantly appears then it is possible that your antivirus is no longer working properly. If this happens, your computer is no longer protected against security threats and viruses when you are connected to the internet.

One way to fix it is to reinstall the antivirus. But before reinstalling, check if you have the latest version. If not then download and upgrade to Avira Free Antivirus or from FileHippo, Avira Free Antivirus 14.0.6.570. It requires Windows XP Service Pack 2 [x64], Windows XP Service Pack 3 [x86], Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 both x86 and x64.

Microsoft Windows Vista is not supported in this version. Once downloaded, click Start, Control Panel then select Add or Remove Programs. Select Avira from the list and click Remove or Uninstall to uninstall it. Follow the instructions then restart the computer. Next, click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools then select Disk Cleanup.

Select drive C then click OK. Check Setup Log Files and “Temporary files”, click OK then click Delete Files. Restart the computer. Navigate to the download folder then double-click the Avira installer to install the Avira Free Antivirus.
