Avid software assertion failed error message

Hi fellows,

I tried to open an  audio file using avid software that I recently installed  but instead of opening the file, I got an error on my screen. The screenshot of the error is attached below:

An error has occurred

Assertion faied: m_plmg->wid-— pSarnple•> GetActiveFieldWidth(AVS::uVideo)

File: coreswamesrcConsumersSingleFrameFrameConsumer c

Line: 684

Create Report

Exit Application

How do I fix this error? I didn't do anything besides double click on the audio file and then the mouse arrow turned into a hand and after that this error shows up. My system specs are as follows:

 

Avid MC 6

HP Z800
Dual Intel Xeon E5530 2.4GHz
24GB RAM
SAS 320GB @ 15K RPM OS Hard Drive
1TB HD and 1.5TB HD Internal
Nvidia Quadro FX 3800

 

Please give me some advice how to fix it? I'll be thankful.

Hello,

Avid mc 6 is a media composer which is used for film and video editing.

You received an error while opening an audio file with avid mc 6 because audio files are not supported by avid mc 6.

If you want to edit or open audio files you need to install pro tool 10.

Hello Mike,

That is an error that is occurring possibly because you are using an old version of service pack of your operating system. To resolve this problem, you will therefore need to obtain the latest service pack for Windows OS. You can get simply by performing a windows update.
