Yes so many companies are working for autonomous car now a days. Google is also researching for Google self-driving car which will use the technology for autonomous car. Google in 2014 presented a new prototype of self driving car which does not have any steering and pedals. In the month of December, 2014 Google unveiled a self-driving car which is fully functional and may be that will be tested in 2015. The autonomous car is one in which the car will fulfills the purpose of the transportation but without a driver. The car is capable of sensing its environment without any input from human during the journey.

Autonomous car uses techniques  like Radar, Lidar, GPS and computer vision for navigation through the road safely. The sensor sense for the navigation path as well as the obstacles or any other danger which may come from the other car running on the same road. In 2014, a self-driven vehicle is commercially launched. It operates at 20.1km/h or 12. 5 miles per hour.

It’s a rumour that Apple is working on autonomous car. There is no official statement from apple that they are working on autonomous car. Apple does not revel all the time about their research. Maybe they are researching on autonomous car. But we will come to know only when they will give an official statement.
