Check again if your operating system is really supported or you need to update your platform. Autodesk Revit 2012 supports Windows XP [Home or Professional] Service Pack 2 and up, Windows Vista [Enterprise, Ultimate, Business, or Home Premium] Service Pack 2 and up, and Windows 7 [Enterprise, Ultimate, Professional, or Home Premium].

This is for the x86 version of Autodesk Revit 2012. If you have the x64 version of Autodesk Revit 2012, it has the same system specifications with Windows Vista and Windows 7. For Windows XP, x64 Autodesk Revit 2012 requires x64 Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 and up. You should also check your graphics adapter. Autodesk Revit 2012 requires a video card with at least 256 MB video RAM with Shader Model 3 and can support Microsoft DirectX 10.

If you think the application is compatible with your operating system, try reinstalling it. Uninstall Autodesk Revit 2012 then click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and select Disk Cleanup. Select drive C and click OK. Check “Temporary files”, click OK, and wait until it is finished and then restart your computer. Install the program back and see if it works.

It may also help if you run the program as administrator. Right-click on the application’s icon and select Properties. Select Compatibility tab and check “Run this program as an administrator” under Privilege Level and click OK. Run the program again and see if it works.
