apple app microsoft word 2012 I have seen this app called microsoft word 2012, is this from microsoft or does apple and microsoft merge?

This is not merging but rather a partnership or an affiliation between Apple and Microsoft. This has been announced last 2007 on the Macworld Expo trade show from Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. Gates invested $150-million in Apple and will improve and ship the upcoming Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer versions and the Mac development tools.
Microsoft's venture does not stand as a path uniting the operating system of the two companies. But accroding to them, they had an agreement to produce a resolution to a long-standing disagreement upon if Microsoft Windows OS breaks on any Apple rights.
The Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates who appeared via satellite link at the 1997 Macworld Expo.
