Hi, John E Hayes

I'm afraid that this problem can not be solved. This is a bug. You can try to update your version of Adobe Photoshop. Like I read, in next version this problem is solved and people can work with ā€œtabsā€ without any problems. You should check for information on the Adobe Photoshop site, and there you will findĀ  what version you need.

If Adobe Photoshop CS6 keeps giving you that error, try to uninstall and reinstall the program. And before reinstalling, check the system requirements again and make sure your computer meets those requirements. Adobe Photoshop CS6 supports Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Windows 7 Service Pack 1.

It requires Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent AMD Athlon 64 or faster processor, 1 GB RAM, 1 GB free space, 1024 x 768 pixels minimum screen resolution, video card with 512 MB video RAM and supports OpenGL 2.0, and internet connection for product activation. Microsoft Windows Vista is not supported. It may work on Windows 8.x. Download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and install it.

Once installed, start Revo then select Photoshop CS6 among the applications and click ā€œUninstallā€. Follow the normal uninstall process. When uninstall is complete, click ā€œScanā€ to scan your computer for any leftover files and delete everything it finds. This removes everything the program created on your computer. When it is finished, exit Revo then install Photoshop CS6 back. If this doesnā€™t work, try starting the program as admin.

Right-click Adobe Photoshop CS6 and select ā€œRun as administratorā€. You should also update the program to the latest. Go to Photoshop for Windows and download the updates for Adobe Photoshop CS6. The program should be at version 13.0.1.3 to be fully up to date.
