Hi everyone,
I would like to make use of a 24-gauge line cord to attach to my DSL modem. The distance to be covered is about fifteen feet from the wall socket to the modem. Is this link better than the common phone line cord? Moreover, will it work at a faster rate?
Thanks for any helpful information.
Is 24-gauge line cord is better than the common phone line cord
Hello Caldwell,
24-gauge should carry more information then common telephone cord. But it depends on the type and quality of your cord. Generally Coaxial wire, Speaker wire are used for telephone lining. It does not act as good as 24-gauge line. But you need to consult with an expert as the role of gauge varies country to country. If you connect only modem it should work fine.
Thank you.

Hi Janis,
If you are using 24-gauge cable for long distances will require you to use a repeater. However using the cable at a shorter distance like 12-15 feet will not need any repeater. This can be flexible if ever your phone company decides to use Optical fiber cable. If you would think about it both cables are similar and most phone cables are 24- gauge cables.
