Now you don’t have to extend your arm or use selfie stick to take a selfie or groupie; you can use a pocket-size device called “Airselfie” to capture remotely your videos and phone in mid-air.
Airselfie drone was the brain child of an Italian entrepreneur Edoardo Stroppianna in 2014. According to him, the devices is specifically designed for those people who feels that drone cameras are very complex to use and are expensive and bulky. The device is equipped with a five-megapixel camera that can capture a full HD (high-definition) 1080 pixel video and also has 4GB micro SD. People, companies, groups, by using Airselfie can take snaps of themselves, background and projects from different angles, heights, and distance that would not be possible through selfie stick.

- It weighs around 1.83 ounces or 52 grams
- The drone has four rotors that help it to fly up to 20 meters (65 feet) high
- This flying drone measures 3.72 x 2.65 x 0.42 inches which are smaller than a smartphone.
Stropianna cofounded a company in London called Airselfie Holdings Ltd to manufacture this drone. Airselfie to measure its altitude uses sonar and keep itself steady and stable by using a tiny camera to monitor its environment for the signs of jitters .the drone i.e. equipped with barometers, geomagnetic and gyroscopes that help in navigation when it files.
The drone is controlled through a free Android or iOS app. Through app it can take off; can adjust its height and direction; let it move autonomously. The app help in taking a High Definition Ariel video or shot by just pushing a button. It can consecutively take eight shots. The user can also activate timer of10 seconds, allowing the people to adjust themselves for the pictures or videos. It also uses Wi-Fi to send videos and photos wirelessly to a smartphone, and that can be immediately shared on social media. After clicking, the device with the touch of a button returns to its departure point. The user can guide the device manually and is safe user land the device on their hand, even can grab the device while moving in the midair.
According to the manufacturer company, a lithium polymer that is rechargeable gives the device a flight time of 3 minutes. Just like a smartphone, there is power bank device that can charge Airselfie in 30 minutes. The power bank can do 20 such charges before it is to be charged. The drone can also be charged via micro –USB cable.
Airselfie will certainly compete with DJI Mavic. It is part of a various growing number of compact and customer-oriented self-drones that gives convenience the priority. Due to its pocketable design, it may be the most convenient device, if you are ready to carry an extra device on your phone, it can be carried all time.
As a kick start goal, the device has raised $11000 from just $48000. The company also received an investment of $3 million from a private angel investor in the China, UK, United States and Germany. The drone may be hitting the market in the year 2017 for a retail price of $300.
