Flash Player Not Allowed on iPhone and iPad

This may be a vague question but I am interested to know why Apple does not allow flash to work with iPhones and iPads. I can’t make sense of it. What would Apple loose from allowing flash to work on their products? Is it that they have challenges getting it to work? Or is there another reason why they would not want it on their product?

Hello Hadji Santos, I have read your question about allowing Flash products in Apple technologies. The main reason is that they are not intended for iPhones, Flash are basically for personal computers and not for touch screen technologies.

The late Steve Jobs has also pointed out that these products tend to make iPhones slow-moving in terms of adopting to Flash. However in the absence of Flash invention Apple made sure that you can use other systems such as the JavaScript, CSS and HTML5 that you can utilize.

The work that you need to use Flash technologies would use the PC’s while if you want the travelling power tool iPhones work best.

Hello,

There are a number of reasons that Apple Founder Steve Jobs openly described in an open letter that he posted on the Apple website, to answer questions that were being asked as to why Apple products do not support Flash Player. Among the reasons he highlighted are;

1. Security reliability & performance reasons, which he stated that flash is one of the biggest causes of Macs to crash & despite the effort to rectify this problem, they have persisted over the years therefore not reliable to add flash to Apple devices.
2. Touch- Steve stated that the flash was designed & meant for PCs & mice unlike Apple products are mostly Touch platforms. There is the rollover feature that flash websites rely on mouse over, but the products do not use a mouse therefore not compatible for Apple products.
3. Competition – Flash is a development platform on its own which if installed onto the iPhone would allow developers to code & put them on the web page thus would channel business from the App store, also enable publishers to distribute music, videos & movies that could give iTunes Store a run for their money, something that Apple Inc enjoy as the sole dominance over its hardware & the software that runs on their products.

Hello,
The main reason why Apple does not allow flash to work with iPhone and iPads is that allowing flash (which is a development platform of its own) would be too dangerous for Apple.

One reason why Apple won’t support Flash on iPhone is its ToS or “Terms of Service” because Apple’s terms of service agreement disallows Adobe Flash. Even if Adobe says they are working on a version of Flash Player for the iPhone, it is very unlikely that Apple will permit the app from appearing in the Apple App Store no matter how much customers want it.

Flash or Flash Player is a development platform of its own and it would be very dangerous for Apple. Flash Player has progressed from a simple animation player into a multimedia player capable of running applications of its own. This means Flash would open a new door for developers to get their apps into iPhone.

In August 2008, the Advertising Standards Authority of Great Britain pulled an iPhone ad because of its message that says “All the parts of the internet are on the iPhone,” which is not true and deemed misleading considering that iPhone lacks support for Java and Flash.
